Sottomarino has a rich and interesting history, dating back to the 1940's in the World War II era when Treasure Island was a Navy base. The space was originally used as a training vessel (technical term: Damage Control Wet Trainer), where Navy seamen would practice training drills to prepare for the worst. As Sottomarino Winery’s original tasting room, you could explore a living piece of history while enjoying our wine. With the re-development on Treasure Island impacted much of the historic navel buildings including Sottomarino, we’ve moved our tasting room to another historic building at the Winery Collective, housed in The Cannery complex in Fisherman’s Wharf, next to the Argonaut Hotel.
